Deleting your account

How to delete it
In the app or on the web, open Settings → Account and choose Delete account. You will be asked to type the email address on the account, because this cannot be undone and a mis-tap should not be able to do it.
If you can no longer sign in, write to privacy@sammurai.com from the address on the account and ask for it to be deleted. You do not need the app installed.
What is deleted
All of it, immediately, and not hidden from view — removed from the database:
- Every Sit Down, and the recording and thumbnails of each one
- Every clip you kept, and every clip you liked
- Groups you made, and your membership of groups other people made
- Your calendar connection and everything read from it
- Check-in prompts, notifications and notification settings
- Your profile picture, your name and your subscription record
- Your Apple and Google sign-ins, and every signed-in session
The video files are held in separate storage, which cannot be changed in the same instant as the database. A record that they must go is written at the moment you delete, and they are erased shortly afterwards. That record is what guarantees it happens even if the first attempt fails.
What is kept, and why
One row survives, and it carries no name, no email address, no picture and no way to sign in. Your email is released, so the same address can start a new account.
It is kept for two reasons. A Sit Down someone else hosted for a group you were in is partly a record about them as well as you, and removing it entirely would delete their conversation. And the security log that records account actions — including this deletion — refers to that row; destroying it would erase the evidence that your deletion was carried out.
How long it takes
The account and its content are gone as soon as you confirm. The stored video and images follow within minutes. Backups roll off on their own schedule and are never read back into the live service.
What we hold and why is set out in full in the Privacy Policy.
